With the aim of reflecting on and taking action regarding environmental justice for the care of the Earth, the Pedro Poveda Higher Institute of Educational Studies (ISESP), the Poveda Cultural Centre (CCP), the Centre for Family Integration (CIF) and the Pedro Poveda Centre for Socio-Cultural Training (CEFOSOP), joined forces to organise the seminar ‘Integral Ecology and Critical Environmental Education’, aimed at staff from these organisations, teachers, students and community leaders; to promote global awareness and action for the protection of life and to jointly develop responses that contribute to establishing a more harmonious relationship with all who inhabit the planet.

Elia Fleta is a singer-songwriter, but also an artist specialising in iconography. She trained in Vipassana meditation in India and has also studied music education, history and theology. Her curiosity has led her to take part in various social projects run by the TA, which she first encountered at a very young age in Lima, Peru. She was motivated by a calling that emerged when she was five years old after watching the film Marcellino, Bread and Wine. In this interview, she tells us about her life as a member of the Teresian Association, now and in the past.

On 21 and 22 May, the New Synod Hall at the Vatican hosted an international meeting organised by the Dicastery for Laity, Family and Life. Around 200 participants — members of the governing bodies of international associations and movements — gathered to reflect on the theme: “To Serve, accompany and guide: foundations and practices of governance in associations”.

The presentation of Magnifica Humanitas, the first encyclical of Pope Leo XIV, featured a contribution from Léocadie Wasbo Lushombo from the Democratic Republic of the Congo, a theologian, lecturer and member of the Teresian Association. The event, held in the Synod Hall, was attended by guests including Gregoria Ruiz, TA president, and Elisa Byamana Borauzima, also from the Democratic Republic of the Congo and a member of the TA in Italy.

In the Dominican Republic, there is a place where values of peace, justice, equality and respect are encouraged. This is the Saint Pedro Poveda Socio-Cultural Training Centre (CEFOSOP), one of the social projects run by the Teresian Association in the country. Children, teenagers and adults learn various artistic and communication skills through the programmes on offer.

In Bethlehem and Jerusalem, members of the Teresian Association addressed the need for interreligious dialogue (IRD) with an open mind and a solid foundation during a series of meetings held on 7 and 9 May.
