With grateful hearts and renewed inspiration, members of the Teresian Association (TA) in Cebu gathered on Sunday, July 26 to commemorate in advance the 90th anniversary of the martyrdom of St. Pedro Poveda. More than a remembrance of a historical event, the day became an opportunity to share Poveda's life, mission, and enduring legacy with others.

On July 26, 2026, the Teresian Association Iloilo joyfully held the Encuentro Povedano at the Josefa Segovia Student Center (JSSC) in commemoration of the 90th anniversary of the martyrdom of Saint Pedro Poveda, founder of the Teresian Association and witness to education as a path of transformation. The gathering highlighted Poveda’s enduring vision that education can shape persons and society through faith, values, and service.

With a view to reinforcing the initiative “Renewing our commitment to education” set out in the first mission priority of the Teresian Association (2023–2028), the Council for Culture organised an international seminar in Santa María de Los Negrales in Spain on this topic. It was in this context that João Costa, Chair of the Committee on Educational Policies and of the OECD’s Global Forum on the Future of Education and Skills 2040, as well as Director of the European Agency for Special Needs and Inclusive Education, delivered his lecture.

Held under the theme “Love Your Palestinian Heritage,” the camp provided young participants with meaningful experiences that deepened their connection to Palestinian culture, traditions, and identity.

The Pedro Poveda Higher Institute of Educational Studies (ISESP) held a very successful seminar on best practice and research in inclusive education entitled, ‘Innovate to Include’, on 7 July 2026. The event brought together 173 teachers, specialists and education authorities to share innovative experiences that promote inclusive education in the Dominican Republic.

The Teresian Association in Malaga, Spain, launched a project called ‘Espacio Sal y Luz’ that has the principal aim of addressing the needs of migrants and marginalised people. It does so by offering a space for welcome and integration based on a culture of encounter. Migrants have found support as they go through the process of regularising their status.
